Bios beeps on startup noises long after installing the AGP card, or RAM is?
I installed a new AGP card grapghics my mother (who has a default built in one) after having to remove the RAM chip temporarily to have room to work, and when I start my constant long beep sounds and the computer will not start. Nothing is displayed on my monitor. My BIOS from Phoenix, is a motherboard MSI (KM4M). All my research points to RAM, however I an unable to verify this. Is it normal for the BIOS to beep if the RAM is missing or defective? If it is RAM, then it probably means that a full team and I can not find DDR 300 sticks. Could it be something to do with having multiple display cards where there should be disabled in the BIOS on board first (before putting on a new card) and There is a way to reset the BIOS? Thanks for the suggestions.
Try this: Remove both the AGP video card, and RAM memory completely, while that the PC is off and the power cord has been removed. Replace gently but firmly back in their slots to be fully seated with the short memory RAM clips on the full and the sides of the RAM memory cards. Now, connect the power cord and power again. Hope this helps.
